Ottawa Redblacks release OL Dariusz Bladek, two others

The Ottawa Redblacks released offensive lineman Dariusz Bladek, defensive lineman Chase McGowan, and defensive back Charlie Ringland on Thursday.

Dariusz Bladek is six foot five and weighs 303 pounds. The 32-year-old from Clifton, New Jersey, re-signed with the Redblacks on January 28, 2026.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders drafted him in the second round (11th pick) of the 2017 CFL Draft. He played three seasons in Saskatchewan, playing 45 games, of which 22 were starts. The Toronto Argonauts signed Bladek as a free agent on February 11, 2020. He played two seasons in Toronto, playing 27 games. In 2022, he played 17 games, helping them win the East Division with an 11-7 record.

Toronto beat the Montreal Alouettes in the East Semi-Final before upsetting the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 109th Grey Cup in Regina, Saskatchewan, by the final score of 24-23. It was Toronto’s 18th Grey Cup title in franchise history. In 2023, he did not see any playing time.

The Ottawa Redblacks signed Bladek on January 31, 2024. In 2024, Bladek started 17 games. Ottawa’s offense averaged 366.9 net yards per game, 24.6 points per game, 83.7 rushing yards per game, 303.1 passing yards per game, 38 touchdowns, and tied sixth in sacks allowed (40).

Bladek re-signed with the Redblacks on January 13, 2025. In 2025, he started 11 games. Ottawa’s offense averaged 22.1 points per game, 338.5 net offense per game, 269.3 passing yards per game, 93.6 rushing yards per game, 41 touchdowns, and allowed 47 sacks, finishing 4-14 for the season.

Collegiately, Bladek played four seasons at Bethune-Cookman University (2012-15), playing 34 games for the Wildcats. He was named to the 2015 SBN Black College All-America Team.

In 2015, Bethune-Cookman’s offensive line paved the way to lead the MEAC in several statistical categories, including scoring offense (31.4 avg/g), total offense (445.0 avg/g), rushing offense (191.8 yds./g), pass offense (253.2 avg/g), and pass efficiency (164.1 efficiency).

Chase McGowan is six foot one and weighs 250 pounds. The 25-year-old from Stafford, Virginia, made two tackles in three games for the Redblacks in 2025.

McGowan signed with the Billings Outlaws (AFL) on May 27, 2024. In 2024, McGowan made 7 tackles (2 solos, 5 assists), three tackles for loss, two sacks, and two pass breakups in four games. In the playoffs, McGowan made 7 tackles (4 solo, 3 assists), two tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one forced fumble, helping the Outlaws in ArenaBowl XXXIII over the Albany Firebirds 46-41. The Ottawa Redblacks signed McGowan on September 13, 2024. 

Collegiately, McGowan played six seasons at the University of Delaware (2019-23) with 122 tackles (63 solos, 59 assists), 47.5 tackles for loss, 27 sacks, four pass breakups, five forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 61 games for the Fightin’ Blue Hens.

He was named a two-time Second Team All-CAA and two-time Third Team All-CAA. He ranks fourth all-time in sacks (27) and fifth all-time in tackles for loss (47.5).

Charlie Ringland is six foot one and weighs 198 pounds. The 26-year-old from Winnipeg, Manitoba, signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on May 5, 2025. In 2025, eight tackles, one tackle on special teams, and one interception in nine games.

The B.C. Lions drafted Ringland in the fifth round (43rd pick) of the 2023 CFL Draft. He missed the entire 2023 season after tearing his ACL during the CFL Combine.

In 2024, Ringland appeared in two preseason games with one tackle. He spent the regular season on the practice squad. The Lions released him on November 3, 2024. B.C. re-signed Ringland on November 18, 2024. The Lions released him on May 2, 2025.

Collegiately, Ringland played four seasons at the University of Saskatchewan (2018-22) with 97 tackles (86 solos, 25 assists), 2 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 4 interceptions for 9 yards, 15 pass breakups, 3 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery in 38 games for the Huskies. In the 2022 Hardy Cup, Ringland made three interceptions in a win over Manitoba. In addition, he was named a Canada West All-Star in 2022.
