Edmonton Elks sign OL Spencer Walsh, two others to the practice squad

The Edmonton Elks signed offensive linemen Spencer Walsh and Nash Jones, and defensive lineman Jamil Muhammad to the practice squad on Tuesday.

Spencer Walsh is six foot three and weighs 294 pounds. The 22-year-old from Brantford, Ontario, was drafted by the Edmonton Elks in the fourth round (32nd pick) of the 2026 CFL Draft.

Collegiately, Walsh spent four seasons at Wilfrid Laurier (2022-25), playing 26 games for the Golden Hawks. In 2024, he helped Wilfrid Laurier win the Uteck Bowl and the Yates Cup, and in 2025 was named Second Team OUA All-Star. In 2024, Wilfrid Laurier averaged 38.3 points per game, 508.6 yards per game, 334.3 passing yards per game, 174.4 rushing yards per game, and 34 touchdowns.

Nash Jones is six foot four and weighs 314 pounds. The 24-year-old from Nacogdoches, Texas, signed with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2025. In 2025, he played in three preseason games. The Chargers released him on August 26, 2025. The Denver Broncos signed Jones to the practice squad on December 17, 2025. The Broncos released him on June 18, 2026.

Collegiately, Jones spent three seasons at the University of Incarnate Word (2020-22), starting 33 games (27 at left tackle, 6 at right tackle) for the Cardinals, playing 1,899 snaps, and allowing one sack. He was named First Team All-Southland Conference in 2021 and Second Team All-Southland Conference in 2022.

Then, he transferred to Texas State (2023-24), starting 17 games (12 at left guard, 5 at left tackle) for the Bobcats. In 2024, he was named an All-Sun Belt Honorable Mention after starting left guard in 12 games. Texas State averaged 36.5 points per game, 476.9 yards per game, 268.7 passing yards per game, 208.2 rushing yards per game, and 61 touchdowns.

Jamil Muhammad is six foot one and weighs 260 pounds. The 25-year-old from Madison, Alabama, signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2025. In 2025, he made five tackles (4 solos, 1 assist) and one sack in three preseason games, earning a spot on the practice squad. The Rams released him on November 17, 2025. He also spent time with the Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns. In 2026, he made four tackles (1 solo, 3 assists) in two preseason games with the Browns. The Browns released him on August 28, 2026.

Collegiately, spent four seasons at Georgia State University (2019-22) with 70 tackles (36 solos, 34 assists), 11 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, one interception, four pass breakups, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one touchdown in 34 games for the Panthers.

Then, he transferred to the University of Southern California (2023-24) with 74 tackles (35 solos, 39 assists), 12 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, one pass breakup, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 26 games for the Trojans.
