The Edmonton Elks signed offensive linemen John Bosse and Joe Cooper to the practice squad on Tuesday.
John Bosse is six foot four and weighs 335 pounds. The 25-year-old from Fort Myers, Florida, re-signed with the Argonauts on January 16, 2025. In 2025, he played in 19 games. Toronto averaged 25.2 points per game, 334.1 offense per game, 304.6 passing yards per game, 51.6 rushing yards per game, and 38 touchdowns.
The Toronto Argonauts drafted Bosse in the third round (25th pick) of the 2024 CFL Draft. In 2024, Bosse played two preseason games and two regular-season games before spending the rest of the season on the practice squad when Toronto won the 111th Grey Cup championship over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Argonauts released him on November 18, 2024.
Collegiately, Bosse played four seasons at the University of Calgary (2019, 2021-23), playing 29 games for the Dinos with one tackle (1 solo). He was part of the Dinos 2019 Vanier Cup Championship team, defeating the University of Montreal.
Joe Cooper is six foot seven and weighs 320 pounds. A native of East Berlin, Pennsylvania, spent five seasons at Slippery Rock University (2021-25), playing 43 games, of which 38 were starts at left tackle and right tackle for the Rock.
He was named a three-time All-PSAC West honoree (2023-25), All-American in 2025 by the AP, AFCA, D2CCA, Walter Camp Football, and Don Hansen Football, and a finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award in 2025. He was also invited to the East-West Shrine Bowl in 2025.
In 2025, he started at left tackle in 10 games, helping the Rock average 32.7 points per game, 418.1 yards per game, 200.3 passing yards per game, 217.8 rushing yards per game, 43 touchdowns, and allowed 10 sacks.
