The Edmonton Elks signed linebacker Jaxxon Brashear on Sunday, according to the CFL Transactions page. He is the son of former NHL player Donald Bashear.
Jaxxon Brashear is six foot and weighs 220 pounds. A native of Quebec City, Quebec, Brashear began his collegiate career at Cégep Limoilou (2019-21), where in 2021 he made 22 tackles, one tackle for loss, three interceptions, and four pass breakups.
Then, he transferred to the University of Ottawa (2022-25) with 102 tackles (62 solos, 50 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, three pass breakups, and one blocked kick in 29 games for the Gee-Gees.
In 2025, he was named First Team OUA All-Star after finishing the season with a career-high 54 tackles (34 solos, 20 assists), two tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in eight games.
The Elks also announced that they released defensive back Jeremiah Walker, and placed offensive lineman Gregory Eiland, linebacker Alexander Raich, and defensive back Royce Metchie on the suspended list.
