The Ottawa Redblacks signed offensive linemen Mahamane Moussa and Eric Starczala, defensive lineman Joey Zelinsky, and defensive back Devyn Perkins on Tuesday.
Mahamane Moussa is six foot four and weighs 305 pounds. The 23-year-old from Indianapolis, Indiana, attended a rookie minicamp for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2026.
Collegiately, Moussa spent four seasons at Purdue University (2021-24), playing left tackle and left guard in 40 games, of which 31 were starts for the Boilermakers. In 2024, he started 12 games as Purdue’s offense averaged 15.3 points per game, 299.3 yards per game, 183.9 passing yards per game, 115.3 rushing yards per game, and 23 touchdowns.
Then, Moussa transferred to the University of Louisville in 2025, playing right tackle and left tackle in 13 games for the Cardinals. Louisville averaged 29.9 points per game, 384.5 points per game, 220.6 passing yards per game, 163.9 rushing yards per game, and 46 touchdowns.
Eric Starczala is six foot five and weighs 315 pounds. The 30-year-old from Cambridge, Ontario, re-signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on July 22, 2024. In 2024, he played 10 games. Starczala did not play in 2025 due to a head injury. He became a free agent after the 2025 season.
The Toronto Argonauts drafted Starczala in the seventh round (62nd pick) in the 2019 CFL Draft. The Ottawa Redblacks signed Starczala on December 12, 2022. He played one game for Ottawa in 2023 before being released on August 15, 2023.
He later re-signed with the Redblacks on September 26, 2023, and was placed on the practice squad. In 2024, Starczala appeared in one preseason game against the Montreal Alouettes. Starczala started the season on the practice squad and was released by the Redblacks on July 18, 2024.
Collegiately, Starczala played five seasons at Guelph University (2015-19), playing right tackle in 17 games for the Gryphons and was named a two-time OUA Second-Team All-Star.
Joey Zelinsky is six foot four and weighs 250 pounds. The 24-year-old from Cressona, Pennsylvania, attended rookie minicamps with the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers in 2026.
Collegiately, Zelinsky spent one season at Hudson Valley Community College in 2021 with 24 tackles (11 solos, 13 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks in eight games for the Vikings. Next, he transferred to Eastern Michigan University (2022-24) with 78 tackles (31 solos, 47 assists), 12 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 36 games for the Eagles.
Then, he transferred to the University of Pittsburgh in 2025 with 23 tackles (10 solos, 13 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks in 12 games for the Panthers.
Devyn Perkins is five foot ten and weighs 195 pounds. The 24-year-old from Las Vegas, Nevada, signed with the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2026. In 2026, he made four tackles (3 solos, 1 assist) in three preseason games. The Raiders released him on August 30, 2026.
Collegiately, Perkins spent five seasons and two stints at Utah Tech (2020-23, 2025) with 139 tackles (97 solos, 42 assists), 4.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, five interceptions for 125 yards, one touchdown, 25 pass breakups, one forced fumble, seven kick returns for 142 yards, and one punt return for no yards in 41 games for the Trailblazers. Perkins also spent one season at Southern Utah in 2024 with 12 tackles (7 solos, 5 assists) and one tackle for loss in four games.
The Redblacks also announced they released defensive back Adrian Frye.
Adrian Frye is six foot and weighs 205 pounds. The 27-year-old from Houston, Texas, re-signed with the Redblacks on December 29, 2025. In 2026, he made 20 tackles and one tackle on special teams in six games.
The New Orleans Saints signed Frye as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2023. In 2023, Frye made six tackles (5 solos, 1 assist) and one pass breakup in three preseason games. The Saints released him on August 29, 2023.
The Ottawa Redblacks signed Frye on January 24, 2024. In 2024, he made three tackles in two preseason games. The Redblacks released him on June 10, 2024. Ottawa re-signed Frye to the practice squad on July 15, 2024. He made six tackles, one tackle for loss, and four tackles on special teams in five games. In 2025, he made 37 tackles, one tackle for loss, one tackle on special teams, one sack, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 11 games.
Collegiately, Frye played five seasons at Texas Tech (2018-22) with 101 tackles (76 solos, 25 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, seven interceptions for 55 yards, one touchdown, 26 pass breakups, one forced fumble, one blocked punt, and 28 punt returns for 146 yards in 51 games for the Red Raiders. He was named First Team All-Big 12 and Freshman All-American in 2018.
