The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed linebacker Ryder Varga to a two-year contract through the 2027 season on Wednesday.

Ryder Varga is six foot three and weighs 225 pounds. The 27-year-old from Regina, Saskatchewan, was released by the Toronto Argonauts on April 29, 2026.

The B.C. Lions drafted Varga in the third round (29th pick) of the 2022 CFL Draft. In 2023, he made nine tackles, 13 tackles on special teams, and one sack in 18 games. In 2024, he made 73 tackles, five tackles on special teams, and one sack in 18 games.

The Toronto Argonauts acquired Varga from the B.C. Lions on January 6, 2025, for offensive lineman Dejon Allen. In 2025, Varga made 10 tackles on special teams in 13 games.

Collegiately, Varga played five seasons at the University of Regina (2017-19, 2021-22) with 157 tackles (115 solos, 42 assists), 21.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks, one interception, seven pass breakups, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and one blocked kick in 32 games for the Rams. He was named First Team All-Canadian in 2022, Canada West Defensive Player of the Year in 2022, a three-time Academic All-Canadian, and a two-time Canada West All-Star.
