St. Louis moves into a three-way tie for first place in San Antonio

The St. Louis Battlehawks (2-1) concluded Week 4 of the UFL season on Sunday afternoon from the Alamodome against the San Antonio Brahmas (2-1) in front of a crowd of 11,790 fans.

St. Louis quarterback A.J. McCarron completed 19 of 27 passes (70%) for 152 yards, one touchdown, four carries for 21 yards, and one touchdown leading the Battlehawks to a 31-24 win over the Brahmas. The win moves the Battlehawks into a three-way tie for first place in the XFL Conference with the D.C. Defenders and San Antonio Brahmas.

A.J. McCarron’s touchdown happened in the second quarter throwing to Hakeem Butler for 20 yards which made it 14-3. McCarron’s rushing touchdown also happened in the first quarter for 10 yards but failed the one-point conversion for a 6-0 lead.

St. Louis running back Jacob Saylors led the rushers with seven carries for 62 yards, one touchdown, and one catch for 11 yards. St. Louis’s rushers finished the afternoon with 19 carries for 113 yards, and two touchdowns.

Wide receiver Hakeem Butler led the St. Louis receivers with six catches for 87 yards and one touchdown. The receivers finished the day with 19 catches for 152 yards and one touchdown. Kicker Andre Szmyt made three field goals with a long of 54 yards. The defense finished the afternoon with 81 tackles, four tackles for loss, and three pass breakups.

San Antonio had 260 yards on offense. Quarterback Chase Garbers completed 27 of 41 passes (66%) for 143 yards, one touchdown, and three carries for 10 yards. Garbers lone touchdown happened in the fourth quarter to Alize Mack for two yards which made it 31-24 Battlehawks.

Running John Lovett led the rushers with 12 carries for 14 yards, one touchdown, and one catch for two yards. Lovett’s lone touchdown happened in the second quarter for two yards that made it 14-9 St. Louis, while Anthony McFarland had nine carries for 39 yards, and one touchdown. San Antonio’s rushers finished the afternoon with 28 carries for 102 yards, and two touchdowns.

Wide receiver Jontre Kirklin led the receivers with 8 catches for 52 yards and completed one pass for 15 yards. San Antonio’s receivers finished the afternoon with 28 catches for 158 yards and one touchdown.

Kicker Ryan Santoso made two field goals with a long of 35 yards. San Antonio’s defense made 59 tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
