HIGHLIGHTS: Repco Supercars Championship Race 2 Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight

Repco Supercars Championship

The Repco Supercars Championship raced on a wet Sydney Motorsports Park for race two of the Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight.

Shane Van Gisbergen won the opener Saturday night and looked for the sweep. However, he started 21st. Meanwhile, Brodie Kostecki of Boost Mobile Racing started on the pole. Unfortunately, Kostecki lost the lead on the opening lap to Anton De Pasquale.

By the seventh lap, Kostecki got the lead back from De Pasquale. On lap 30, Jake Kostecki led the race while drivers were making pit stops. Will Brown took the lead a lap later. Once pit stops were complete, Kostecki resumed the lead on lap 37.

On lap 50, James Courtney was the leader. He led two laps before Chaz Mostert took the lead away from him. Mostert led 17 before heading to pit road for his last stop of the day.

Jack Le Brocq was the new leader and was racing on soft tires rather than wet tires. This would cost him. He lost the lead to Chaz Mostert with eight laps to go. Le Brocq lost control of the car and went into the sand trap.

The race resumed with four laps to go, and Chaz Mostert won the race by 2.766 seconds over Brodie Kostecki. It was Mostert’s first win of the season.

The rest of the top ten finishers were Anton De Pasquale third, Cam Waters fourth, Andre Heimgartner fifth, Shane van Gisbergen sixth, Will Davison seventh, Will Brown eighth, David Reynolds ninth, and Tim Slade tenth.

The Repco Supercars Championship’s next race is on March 26th and 27th, at Symmons Plains Raceway.
