Hamilton Tiger-Cats sign four players including wide receiver Dev Holmes

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed wide receivers T.J. Vasher and Dev Holmes, defensive lineman Marje Smith, and defensive back Mark Milton, while placing linebacker Chris Kolarevic on the retired list on Tuesday according to the CFL Transactions page.

T.J. Vasher is six foot five and weighs 210 pounds. The 25-year-old from Wichita Falls, Texas, did not play for the San Antonio Brahmas in 2024. In 2023, Vasher made 16 catches for 173 yards, and two touchdowns in nine games for the San Antonio Brahmas.

The Brahmas drafted Vasher in the ninth round (67th pick) of the 2022 XFL Draft. Before San Antonio, Vasher signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2021. He made two catches for 20 yards in two preseason games for the Cowboys in 2022.

Collegiately, Vasher played five seasons at Texas Tech (2016-20) making 146 catches for 1,983 yards, 21 touchdowns, eight tackles (7 solo, 1 assist), and one forced fumble in 42 games for the Red Raiders.

Dev Holmes is five foot nine and weighs 175 pounds. A native of Troy, New York, Holmes played one season at the University of Albany in 2018 making 50 catches for 734 yards, five touchdowns, completing one pass for 54 yards, one touchdown, four carries for six yards, two kick returns for 50 yards, and two tackles (2 solo) in 11 games for the Great Danes. He finished as the Great Danes’ leading receiver.

Then, Holmes transferred to New Haven (2021-23) making 126 catches for 2,257 yards, 29 touchdowns, five carries for 60 yards, 14 kick returns for 295 yards, 17 punt returns for 281 yards, one touchdown, and one tackle (1 solo) in 34 games for the Chargers. He was named First Team All-NEC in 2022 and he played in the 2023 FCS National Bowl.

Marje Smith is six foot four and weighs 217 pounds. A native of Marshall, Texas, played one season at Baylor in 2018 playing three games recording no stats. Then, Smith transferred to Stephen F. Austin (2019-23) making 52 tackles (25 solo, 27 assists), 14 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, one interception, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries in 38 games for the Lumberjacks.

Mark Milton is six foot two and weighs 191 pounds. The 24-year-old from Houston, Texas, made 7 tackles (3 solo, 4 assists) in three preseason games for the Carolina Panthers in 2023. The Panthers signed Milton as an undrafted free agent in 2023.

Milton would later join the Miami Dolphins practice squad before returning to Carolina. Then, Milton signed with the Birmingham Stallions on December 6, 2023. After Birmingham released Milton on March 10, 2024, Milton signed with the San Antonio Brahmas (UFL) but was released on March 22, 2024.

Collegiately, Milton played five seasons at Baylor (2018-22) with 97 tackles (69 solo, 28 assists), 2 tackles for loss, 1 interception for 2 yards, 9 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery in 51 games for the Bears. In addition to football, Milton was a track and field star competing in the 4x100m relay in 2019 finishing fourth place with a time of 39.92 at the conference championships.

Chris Kolarevic is six foot one and weighs 225 pounds. The 24-year-old from Traverse City, Michigan, attended a rookie minicamp with the Chicago Bears in 2023. Kolarevic signed with the Ticats on August 1, 2023, and played three games for Hamilton recording no stats.

Collegiately, Kolarevic played two seasons at Northern Iowa (2018-19) with 144 tackles (58 solo, 86 assists), 9.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions for 40 yards, one touchdown, two pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 16 games for the Panthers.

After Northern Iowa, Kolarevic transferred to Nebraska (2021-22) with 60 tackles (25 solo, 35 assists), two tackles for loss, and one interception.
