B.C. Lions sign defensive lineman Tyrell Martin to a future contract

The B.C. Lions signed defensive lineman Tyrell Martin to a future contract on Friday, according to the CFL Transactions page. The contract does not start until after the 2026 season.

Tyrell Martin is six foot one and weighs 300 pounds. The 23-year-old from Newark, Delaware, attended a rookie minicamp with the New England Patriots in 2026.

Collegiately, Martin began his collegiate career at Delaware State University. He played one season in 2023 with 13 tackles (9 solos, 4 assists), one tackle for loss, and one sack in 10 games for the Hornets. In addition, Martin competed in track & field, winning four shot put titles at the MEAC Championships. He was named a four-time All-MEAC honoree.

Then, he transferred to Eastern Michigan University (2024-25) with 60 tackles (12 solos, 48 assists), six tackles for loss, one sack, and one fumble recovery in 24 games for the Eagles. In 2025, he made a career-high 44 tackles (7 solos, 37 assists), four tackles for loss, and one sack in 12 games.
