The Calgary Stampeders signed linebacker Nevaeh Sanders and defensive back Cameron Smith to future contracts on Friday, according to the CFL Transactions page. These contracts won’t start until after the 2026 season.
Nevaeh Sanders is six foot two and weighs 208 pounds. The 24-year-old from Flint, Michigan, attended the Seattle Seahawks rookie minicamp in 2026. The Calgary Stampeders signed Sanders to the practice squad on September 15, 2026. The Stampeders released him on September 21, 2026.
Collegiately, Sanders spent two seasons at Iowa Western Community College (2021-22), where he was named to the President’s Honor Roll in the Summer and Fall of 2021 and Spring of 2022. He did not play a game for the Reivers. Next, he transferred to Northern Illinois (2023-24) with 12 tackles (9 solos, 3 assists), 7.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, one pass breakup, and two forced fumbles in 23 games for the Huskies.
Then, he transferred to Mississippi State University in 2025 with 12 tackles (7 solos, 5 assists), one tackle for loss, one sack, and two blocked kicks in 13 games for the Bulldogs.
Cameron Smith is six foot two and weighs 196 pounds. The 23-year-old from Cleveland, Ohio, attended the Kansas City Chiefs rookie minicamp in 2026.
Collegiately, Smith began at Eastern Michigan University (2021-23) with 75 tackles (42 solos, 33 assists), one tackle for loss, one interception for 35 yards, five pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 27 games for the Eagles. Next, he transferred to Jackson State University in 2024 with nine tackles (3 solos, 6 assists) and one tackle for loss in four games for the Tigers. Then, he transferred to Marshall in 2025 with 69 tackles (41 solos, 28 assists), six tackles for loss, two sacks, eight pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 12 games for the Thundering Herd.
