The NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series visited Iowa Speedway on Saturday evening in the Hy-Vee Perks 250. Ryan Sieg started the race on the pole, with Ross Chastain starting second.
Ryan Sieg led the opening 62 laps to win the first stage. Sheldon Creed was the new leader on lap 66. He led 36 laps before losing the lead to Justin Allgaier. Allgaier led the final 20 laps to win the second stage.
The race featured 12 cautions for 72 laps. Late in the race, Carson Kvapil took the lead on lap 252 when Brent Crews hit Ryan Sieg, triggering an eight-car crash that also involved Justin Allgaier, Sam Mayer, Sammy Smith, Patrick Staropoli, Joey Gase, and Carson Brown, sending the race to overtime.
In overtime, Kvapil had a great job to hold off Ross Chastain. On the final lap, Kvapil held off Rath Caruth to win his second straight race by 0.343 seconds. Kvapil led 9 of 250 laps. William Sawalich, Ross Chastain, and Sheldon Creed rounded out the top five. Nick Sanchez, Taylor Gray, Dean Thompson, Harrison Burton, and Brennan Poole completed the top ten. Four cars did not finish the race. They were Carson Ware, Ryan Sieg, Corey Day, and Mason Maggio.
