The Repco Supercars Championship continued the Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440 weekend on Saturday with Race 24 at MotorMall Wanneroo Raceway in Perth, Western Australia. The race was set to 50 laps. Race 23 winner Matthew Payne started the race on the pole, with Broc Feeney starting second.
When the lights went out to start the race, Broc Feeney initially got a good launch but quickly went into a wheelspin when he went to hit second gear, allowing Matthew Payne to take the lead. Within the first ten laps, Payne had a 1.7-second lead.
There was a ton of action in the back of the field with Jackson Walls and Zach Bates getting together on the front straightaway, while Ryan Wood and Cameron Waters traded blows down the pit straight. On lap 16, Chaz Mostert was the first among the leaders to pit road. On lap 22, Kai Allen went to pit road, while Feeney went a lap later.
Three laps later, Matthew Payne went to pit road. Two laps later, the three remaining cars went to pit road to complete the pit cycle. Broc Feeney caught Matthew Payne and passed him for the lead. Feeney began to distance himself from Payne, who was complaining of understeer after his stop.
Broc Feeney went on to win the race by 1.583 seconds over Matthew Payne, ending a seven-race drought. Kai Allen, Chaz Mostert, and Will Brown rounded out the top five. Brode Kostecki, Andre Heimgartner, Ryan Wood, Cameron Waters, and Thomas Randle completed the top ten. Click here to view the results.
