The NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series visited EchoPark Speedway (Atlanta Motor Speedway) on Saturday night in the Focused Health 250. Sam Mayer started the race on the pole, with Carson Kvapil starting second.
Carson Kvapil led 15 laps, winning the first stage under caution after Brandon Jones had an accident at Turn 4. The caution was one of 13 throughout the race for 76 laps. The second stage was clean. Justin Allgaier took the lead away from Sammy Smith, leading the last four laps to win the second stage.
In the final stage, there were eight cautions. With three laps to go, Nick Sanchez made contact with Austin Hill, sending him around and collecting five other cars, including Justin Allgaier, that sent the race to overtime.
In the first overtime, Jeremy Clements and Lavar Scott got together just as the race restarted. In the second overtime, Brennan Poole took the lead. Justin Allgaier went three-wide to take the lead, and held off Carson Kvapil to win his sixth race of the season by 0.139 seconds. He led 15 of 163 laps. It was his 34th career O’Reilly Auto Parts Series win. With the win, Allgaier secured the top seed in The Chase, which begins in September at Darlington Raceway.
Parker Retzlaff, William Sawalich, and Anthony Alfredo rounded out the top five. Garrett Smithley, Brandon Jones, Kyle Sieg, Rajah Caruth, and Jeremy Clements completed the top ten. Click here to view the full standings.
