Pato O’Ward leads McLaren to a 1-2 finish at Mid-Ohio

The NTT IndyCar Series visited Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on Sunday afternoon in the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio in Lexington, Ohio. Christian Lundgaard started the race on the pole, while Pato O’Ward started second. Before the race started, Arrow McLaren announced that Christian Lundgaard and Nolan Siegel will not drive for the team in 2027.

This was a clean race with no cautions. Lundgaard led the opening 41 laps. On the next lap, he went wide at Turn 3, opening the door for Pato O’Ward, who was able to take the lead in between Turns 4 and 5. O’Ward led up to lap 48 before making a pit stop, and Josef Newgarden was the new leader.

Newgarden led a couple of laps before making a pit stop, and Pato O’Ward reclaimed the lead. He continued to lead until lap 65 before making his final pit stop, handing the lead to Will Power. Power led a couple of laps before O’Ward took the lead for good. He led the final 22 laps to pick up his first win of the season by 0.9877 seconds over Christian Lundgaard. It was the first 1-2 finish in Arrow McLaren history.

Kyle Kirkwood, Rinus VeeKay, and Alex Palou rounded out the top five. Will Power, Christian Rasmussen, David Malukas, Josef Newgarden, and Nolan Siegel completed the top ten. Click here to see the full results. There were five lead changes among four drivers. Marcus Armstrong was the most improved driver, starting in 24th place and finishing in 14th place. There were 97 passes, of which 82 were for positions.

The NTT IndyCar Series will return in two weeks at Nashville Superspeedway on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 5:30 pm on Fox.
