Felix Reyes goes yard twice in a Lehigh Valley win at Buffalo

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (24-29) and the Buffalo Bisons (26-27) played game two on Wednesday afternoon from Sahlen Field. Tucker Davidson was on the mound for Lehigh Valley against C.J. Van Eyk of Buffalo.

In the bottom of the second inning, Buffalo had a runner on first base when William Simoneit hit Davidson’s four-seam fastball for a two-run home run at 411 feet to left-center field to give the Bisons a 2-0 lead. It was his third home run of the season, and the exit velocity off the bat was 106 mph.

With one out and a runner on first base, Davis Schneider hit an RBI double to left field. Ryan McCarty scored for a 3-0 lead. With one out, Josh Kasevich hit into an inning-ending 9-5 double play.

At the top of the third inning, Lehigh Valley had a runner on second base when Felix Reyes hit an RBI double to center field. Steward Berroa scored, and the IronPigs trailed the Bisons 3-1. Daniel Harper replaced McMillon in the bottom of the fifth inning with two outs. A flyout by William Simoneit ended the inning. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Buffalo had a runner on second base when William Simoneit hit an RBI single to right field. Davis Schneider scored for a 6-3 lead. A flyout by R.J. Schreck ended the inning. Daniel Harper went 1.1 innings, allowing one hit, one run, one walk, and one strikeout, throwing 21 pitches, of which 11 were strikes.

Michael Mercado pitched in the bottom of the seventh inning. He pitched two innings, allowing one hit, three walks, and one strike, throwing 40 pitches, of which 21 were strikes. At the top of the eighth inning, Lehigh Valley had runners on the corners when Liover Peguero grounded into a 4-3 double play, scoring Felix Reyes, and it was now 6-4. A flyout by Christian Cairo ended the inning.

At the top of the ninth inning, Lehigh Valley center fielder Dylan Carlson worked a four-pitch walk. With two outs, Felix Reyes hit Matt Bowman’s sweeper for a two-run home run at 390 feet to left-center field to give the IronPigs a 7-6 lead. Lou Trivino pitched for Lehigh Valley in the bottom of the ninth inning. He threw 13 pitches, of which eight were strikes, to get the final three outs of the game. The IronPigs completed the comeback with a 7-6 win over the Bisons. Lehigh Valley ends a two-game losing streak.

Lehigh Valley finished the afternoon with nine hits, 3 for 6 with runners in scoring position, and left five men on base. Felix Reyes went 3 for 5 with two home runs, a double, and four RBIs. The win went to Lehigh Valley pitcher Michael Mercado (2-1), Lou Trivino earned his first save of the season, and the loss went to Buffalo pitcher Matt Bowman (1-2).

The IronPigs and Bisons play game three on Thursday at 11:05 am on the MLB App. Bryse Wilson (2-5, 8.08 ERA) will be on the mound for Lehigh Valley against Josh Fleming (2-2, 2.34 ERA) of Buffalo.
