The Toronto Argonauts signed defensive back Theran Johnson on Tuesday.

Theran Johnson is five foot eleven and weighs 195 pounds. A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Johnson attended the Seattle Seahawks rookie minicamp in 2026.

Collegiately, Johnson spent four seasons at Northwestern (2021-24) with 103 tackles (74 solos, 29 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions for 85 yards, one touchdown, and 18 pass breakups in 37 games for the Wildcats. In 2024, he was named Second Team All-Big Ten with a career-high 53 tackles (40 solos, 13 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions for 85 yards, one touchdown, and 10 pass breakups in 11 games.

Then, he transferred to the University of Oregon in 2025 with 19 tackles (15 solos, 4 assists), three pass breakups, one fumble recovery, and one forced fumble in 13 games for the Ducks.
