The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed defensive back Trae Tomlinson and re-signed wide receiver Juwann Winfree on Thursday. The Roughriders also announced that they placed wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland on the retired list.

Trae Tomlinson is five foot eight and weighs 183 pounds. A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Tomlinson spent three seasons at the University of Richmond (2022-24) with 90 tackles (68 solos, 22 assists), three tackles for loss, one interception, 14 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 38 games for the Spiders. In 2023, he made 47 tackles (38 solos, 9 assists), three tackles for loss, one interception, six pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 13 games.

Then, he transferred to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2025 with 26 tackles (12 solos, 14 assists), one tackle for loss, and one sack in 10 games for the Ragin’ Cajuns.

Juwann Winfree is six foot one and weighs 210 pounds. The 29-year-old from Manhattan, New York, signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on February 10, 2026. The Roughriders released him on May 13, 2026.

The Denver Broncos drafted Winfree in the sixth round (187th pick) of the 2019 NFL Draft. He also spent time with the Green Bay Packers, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Houston Texans.

Winfree made nine catches for 75 yards in 23-career NFL games. The Houston Texans signed Winfree on August 19, 2025. In 2025, he made one catch for 26 yards in one preseason game. The Texans released him on September 1, 2025.

Collegiately, Winfree spent one season at Maryland in 2014 with 11 catches for 158 yards and two touchdowns in eight games for the Terrapins. Next, he transferred to Coffeyville Community College in 2015 with 55 catches for 837 yards, seven touchdowns, two carries for 14 yards, and one tackle (1 assist) in 10 games for the Ravens.

Then, he transferred to Colorado (2017-18) with 49 catches for 649 yards, four touchdowns, and two tackles (2 assists) in 20 games for the Buffaloes.
