The Ottawa Redblacks signed quarterback Bryson Barnes on Wednesday.
Bryson Barnes is six foot two and weighs 210 pounds. The 24-year-old from Milford, Utah, attended the Cleveland Browns rookie minicamp last week.
Collegiately, Barnes spent four seasons at Utah (2020-23), completing 181 of 301 passes (60%) for 2,025 yards, 17 touchdowns, 13 interceptions, 111 carries for 391 yards, three rushing touchdowns, and one tackle (1 solo) in 24 games for the Utes.
Then, he transferred to Utah State (2024-25), completing 288 of 482 passes (59.8%) for 3,659 yards, 30 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, 257 carries for 1,270 yards, 15 rushing touchdowns, two catches for seven yards, one receiving touchdown, and three tackles (3 solos) in 22 games for the Aggies.
In 2025, he was named Second Team All-Mountain West after finishing the season completing 211 of 356 passes (59.3%) for 2,803 yards, 18 touchdowns, five interceptions, 189 carries for 740 yards, 10 rushing touchdowns, two catches for seven yards, one receiving touchdown, and one tackle (1 solo) in 13 games.

Wide receiver Nick Mardner was activated from the veteran injured list.
The following players were released: Quarterback Zach Calzada, wide receivers Daniel Jackson and John Dunmore, defensive linemen Bryce Cage, Yoann Miangué, Tre’Vonn Rybka, linebackers Jayden Griffiths and KK Reno, and defensive backs Kobe Savage, Chris Mills, and Russell Dandy.
