The Saskatchewan Roughriders placed defensive back Gideon Agyei on the retired list on Tuesday, according to the CFL Transactions page.
Gideon Agyei is six foot one and weighs 199 pounds. The 24-year-old from Toronto, Ontario, re-signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on November 21, 2025.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders drafted Agyei in the sixth round (52nd pick) of the 2025 CFL Draft. In 2025, he made four tackles and one tackle on special teams in two preseason games. He was placed on the retired list on May 31, 2025, as he was returning to school.
Collegiately, Agyei played five seasons at the University of Calgary (2021-25) with 89 tackles (54 solos, 35 assists), one tackle for loss, two interceptions for 33 yards, one touchdown, and 17 pass breakups in 29 games for the Dinos.
In 2025, Agyei made 30 tackles (22 solos, 8 assists), one tackle for loss, and six pass breakups in eight games. He was named a Canada West All-Star.
