The Edmonton Elks placed offensive lineman Jason Laliberte Jr. on the retired list on Tuesday, according to the CFL Transactions page. The Elks also placed defensive back Royce Metchie on the six-game injured list.
Jason Laliberte Jr. is six foot seven and weighs 312 pounds. A native of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Laliberte Jr. attended the Seattle Seahawks rookie minicamp in 2026. The Edmonton Elks signed Laliberte Jr. on May 5, 2026.
Collegiately, Laliberte Jr. spent five seasons at the University of St. Thomas (Minnesota) (2021-25), playing 41 games for the Tommies. In 2025, he was named Second Team All-Pioneer Football League after finishing the season starting 10 games.
St. Thomas averaged 30.9 points per game, 375.4 yards per game, 236.9 passing yards per game, 138.5 rushing yards per game, and allowed 20 sacks in 49 games. He was also named a two-time Fourth Team All-Pioneer Football League and an All-Pioneer Football League Honorable Mention in 2022.
