The NASCAR Cup Series visited Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon in the Wurth 400. Carson Hocevar started the race on the pole, with Daniel Suarez starting second.

In the first stage, Hocevar led the opening 19 laps. A lap later, Denny Hamlin passed him for the lead. At one point, Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota’s of Christopher Bell, who was leading the race with Hamlin in second place, and Chase Briscoe was in third place.

Bell was fending off Hamlin for the lead when just ahead of them, Todd Gilliland spun on the frontstretch before clipping Bell’s right-rear, and he hit the wall, which led to a caution. Bell led 22 laps and finished in 38th place. It was one of seven cautions for 40 laps. Erik Jones went on to win the first stage.

In the second stage, William Byron spun at Turn 4, contact between Ryan Preece and Ty Gibbs, and a crash by Kyle Larson brought out three more cautions. Chase Elliott went on to win the second. More chaos unfolded on pit road as Chase Briscoe hit Kyle Larson, Joey Logano ran into Cole Custer, destroying his left front, and Denny Hamlin clipped Connor Zilisch exiting his pit box.

In the final stage, Corey Heim, who led a career-high 69 laps, spun in between Turns 3 and 4. In the closing laps, Chase Elliott was leading the race with Denny Hamlin closing in. Elliott held off Denny Hamlin to win his second race of the season by 0.407 seconds.
