The Repco Supercars Championship concluded the Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440 weekend on Sunday with Race 25 at MotorMall Wanneroo Raceway in Perth, Western Australia. Broc Feeney started the race on the pole, with Cameron Waters starting second. The race was set to 80 laps.
Waters and Feeney went at it at the start of the race before Feeney made a move at the first corner to get by Waters for the lead. In the back, Will Brown pushed Rylan Gray off at Turn 6 before he was slapped with a 15-second penalty. Once the field settled down, it was Feeney, Waters, and Matthew Payne running 1-2-3. On lap 14, Payne passed Waters at the exit of Turn 6 to take second place.
Payne was now 1.8 seconds behind Feeney. Later, Feeney caught the tail end of the field and started to lose momentum. Feeney went to pit road on lap 30, with Waters and Kostecki following him. Meanwhile, Matthew Payne took the lead. He went five more laps before making a pit stop on lap 35. Once all pit stops were complete, Feeney had a four-second lead over Payne.
In the back, Brodie Kostecki moved Cameron Waters to take third place. Meanwhile, Payne cut Feeney’s lead to three-tenths of a second on lap 48. Three laps later, Payne’s crew chief had him come in to pit road, with Feeney coming in a lap later. Feeney would beat Payne for the lead. However, Matthew Payne made contact with Feeney inside of Turn 3 to take the lead. Payne was complaining of a vibration in the left rear. Part of the left rear tire had become partially detached from the rim, but the tire held on.
With 20 laps to go, Feeney tried to pass Payne for the lead but was unsuccessful. Feeney began to fall behind. For Payne, he went on to win Race 25 by 1.280 seconds over Feeney for his fifth win of the season, and takes two of three at Perth. Anton De Pasquale, Cameron Waters, and Kai Allen rounded out the top five. Chaz Mostert, Aaron Cameron, Jayden Ojeda, David Reynolds, and Thomas Randle completed the top ten.
