Saskatchewan Roughriders long snapper Jorgen Hus announced his retirement on Thursday.

Jorgen Hus is six foot one and weighs 230 pounds. The 36-year-old from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, made three tackles on special teams in 18 games, helping the Roughriders win the 112th Grey Cup over the Montreal Alouettes.

The Edmonton Eskimos drafted Hus in the fourth round (31st pick) of the 2013 CFL Draft. However, Hus went to the NFL and spent time with the St. Louis Rams, Seattle Seahawks, and Kansas City Chiefs. The Edmonton Elks traded Hus’s rights to the Saskatchewan Roughriders on May 15, 2015. Hus signed with the Roughriders ten days later.

In 2023, Hus made two tackles on special teams in 18 games. In 2024, won the Jake Gaudaur Veterans’ Trophy. The award honors a CFL player who best demonstrates the attributes of Canada’s Veterans — strength, perseverance, courage, comradeship, and contribution to Canadian communities.

He also invested himself in the community as a Player Ambassador with the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation, visiting schools across the province to emphasize the importance of literacy (via the Rider Reading program) and mental health (Win With Wellness).

Hus appeared in 177 games for the Roughriders, including 167 regular-season games, nine playoff games, and one Grey Cup. He concluded his career playing 150 consecutive games, including the playoffs. He was also named a three-time CFL All-Star.

Collegiately, Hus played three seasons at the University of Regina (2010-12) with 45 tackles (24 solo, 21 assists), half a tackle for loss, half a sack, one forced fumble, and one blocked punt in 23 games for the Rams.
