The Arlington Renegades signed offensive lineman Grant Smith and linebacker Joey Asta on Sunday according to the UFL Transactions page.
Grant Smith is six foot five and weighs 325 pounds. A native of Celina, Texas, went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Collegiately, Smith played six seasons at South Dakota Mines (2018-23) playing right guard and left tackle in 39 games for the Hardrockers. In 2023, South Dakota Mines averaged 34.18 points per game, 165.5 rushing yards per game, 253.27 passing yards per game, 418.8 total yards per game, 52 touchdowns, and allowed 15 sacks finishing 5-6 for the season. Smith was named Second Team All-RMAC in 2023 and Honorable Mention All-RMAC in 2021.
Joey Asta is six foot two and weighs 235 pounds. A native of Davis, California, Asta is drafted eligible in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Collegiately, Asta played four seasons at Claremont McKenna (2021-24) making 203 tackles (114 solos, 89 assists), 43 tackles for loss, 26 sacks, one interception for 12 yards, one touchdown, four pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 38 games for the Stags.
In 2024, he made 70 tackles (40 solos, 30 assists), 11 tackles for loss, six sacks, one interception for 12 yards, one touchdown, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 10 games. He was named a three-time First All-SCIAC.
