The Birmingham Stallions placed linebacker Scooby Wright III on the injured reserve list on Wednesday according to the UFL Transactions page.

Scooby Wright III is six foot one and weighs 246 pounds. The 29-year-old from Santa Rosa, California, made eight tackles (5 solo, 3 assists), and one tackle for loss in four games for the Stallions in 2024.

The Stallions drafted Wright III in the 21st round (169th pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft. In two seasons, Wright III made 71 tackles (34 solo, 37 assists), five tackles for loss, three sacks, two forced fumbles, one interception, one touchdown, and five pass breakups in 13 games helping the Stallions win two USFL Championships.

Before Birmingham, Wright III was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the seventh round (250th pick) in the 2016 NFL Draft. He also had stints with the New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals playing 13 NFL regular season games with two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist).

In 2019, Wright III played for the Arizona Hotshots (AAF) with 22 tackles (13 solo, 9 assists) in seven games before the league suspended operations. Then, Wright III played for the D.C. Defenders (XFL) in 2020 with 13 tackles (9 solo, 8 assists) in four games before the league suspended operations due to the pandemic.

Collegiately, Wright III played three seasons at Arizona (2013-15) with 270 tackles (159 solo, 111 assists), 43.5 tackles for loss, 17 sacks, one interception for 13 yards, one pass breakup, five forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 30 games for the Wildcats.

In 2014, he was named Unanimous All-American and First Team All-PAC 12, along with winning the Jack Lambert Trophy, Chuck Bednarik Award, Lombardi Award, and the Bronko Nagurski Trophy.
