Cole Kelley’s two touchdowns lift Memphis to first win of the season

Memphis quarterback Cole Kelley scored two touchdowns in a 29-10 win over Michigan on Saturday night

The Memphis Showboats (1-3) took on the Michigan Panthers (2-2) on Saturday night from Ford Field looking for their first win of the season.

Meanwhile, the Panthers aimed to get back on the winning track after losing to New Jersey last week. Coming into this game, the Showboats were a 6.5-point favorite over the Panthers.

Memphis quarterback Cole Kelley led the Showboats to a 29-10 win over the Panthers. He completed 15 of 26 passes (57.7%) for 151 yards, six carries for 27 yards, and two rushing touchdowns. Running back Kerrith Whyte had 15 carries for 54 yards and three catches for 27 yards. Wide receiver Vinny Papale led the receivers with three catches for 58 yards.

Memphis’s defense allowed 252 yards, with 66 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions, one touchdown, five pass breakups, and one forced fumble.

Michigan quarterback Josh Love completed 10 of 15 passes (66.7%) for 58 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and four carries for three yards. Backup quarterback Carson Strong completed 9 of 12 passes (75%) for 76 yards, and one interception.

Running back Stevie Scott III and Reggie Corbin combined with 26 carries for 119 yards, and four catches for seven yards. Wide receiver Jo Walker led the receivers with seven catches for 76 yards and one touchdown. Michigan’s defense allowed 239 yards, with 54 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, and one pass breakup.
