Hamilton Tiger-Cats bring back wide receiver Mike Jones

On Tuesday, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed wide receiver Mike Jones. This will be Jones’s second stint with the Ticats. The 29-year-old from Toronto, Ontario, played seven games for the Edmonton Elks with eight catches for 100 yards before being released by the Elks on Saturday.

Mike Jones played four seasons at Southern University (2012-15) with 49 catches for 919 yards and six touchdowns in 39 games. In addition, Jones had 16 kick returns for 237 yards and one punt return for 32 yards. He helped Southern University win the SWAC Championship in 2013. The Ticats drafted Jones in the third round (18th pick) in the 2016 CFL Draft.

Jones played 58 games in Hamilton with 101 catches for 1,472 yards, four touchdowns, and one carry for ten yards. In addition, Jones had one punt return for 55 yards and six kick returns for 98 yards. In 2021, Jones signed with the Edmonton Elks with 37 catches for 494 yards, two touchdowns, and one carry for four yards.

In six seasons in the CFL, Jones has 138 catches for 1,966 yards, six touchdowns, and two carries for 14 yards.
