Trading black and gold for black and Red, QB Jeremiah Masoli signs with the Redblacks

Former Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Jeremiah Masoli is trading in his black and gold colors for black and red, signing a two-year contract with the Ottawa Redblacks on Monday.

Jeremiah Masoli (33-years-old) played 12 games in 2021 with 188-271 completions for 2,445 yards, ten touchdowns, six interceptions, 28 carries for 184 yards, and one touchdown. He helped lead the Tiger-Cats to three Grey Cup appearances.

“I am blessed and excited to be a part of this great team, organization, and community in Ottawa. We have one goal, one mission this year, and it’s to raise the Grey Cup with RNation,” said Masoli. “Ottawa has been a place I’ve always loved playing, and now my family and I can’t wait to call this place home. Thank you again to the Ticats and Hamilton community for all of your support over the years. Looking forward to this new beginning!”

Masoli spent eight seasons with the Tiger-Cats, playing 114 games with 1,203 of 1,809 completions for 15,555 yards, 80 touchdowns, 51 interceptions, 252 carries for 1,507 yards, and 19 touchdowns. Masoli was named CFL East All-Star in 2018.

Redblacks General Manager Shawn Burke on signing Masoli said. “Jeremiah is a consummate professional who has been a high-performing quarterback in our league for nearly a decade. We know RNation will give him a warm welcome, and we thank Jeremiah and his family for choosing Ottawa for the next two years.”

Head Coach Paul LaPolice on working with Masoli said. “I’m excited to be able to work with Jeremiah. He is first and foremost an outstanding teammate and leader and has had great success on the field. He has shown to be able to compete at a high level in the CFL. He and his family will be a great addition to RNation.”
