Edmonton Elks sign nine players for the 2024 CFL Draft

The Edmonton Elks signed fullback Bradley Hladik, offensive linemen Evan Anseeuw, Patrick Lavoie, and Jaxon Morkin, defensive lineman Jacob Spencer, and linebackers Olivier Muembi, D.K. Bonhomme, Joel Dublanko, and Eteva Mauga-Clements.

Bradley Hladik is six foot four and weighs 235 pounds. The 23-year-old from Vernon, British Columbia, was drafted by the Edmonton Elks in the second round (18th pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft.

Collegiately, Hladik played four seasons at the University of British Columbia (2019-23) making 12 catches for 119 yards, one touchdown, and six tackles (2 solo, 4 assists) in 31 games for the Thunderbirds. In 2023, Hladik made three catches for 31 yards, one touchdown, and one tackle (1 solo) in 11 games.

Evan Anseeuw is six foot three and weighs 280 pounds. The 23-year-old from Walsingham, Ontario, was drafted by the Edmonton Elks in the seventh round (57th pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft.

Collegiately, Anseeuw played four seasons at York University (2019-23) playing right guard and right tackle in 19 games for the Lions. He attended the 2023 East-West Bowl but didn’t participate in the 2024 CFL Invitational Combine.

Patrick Lavoie is six foot four and weighs 294 pounds. The 24-year-old from Gatineau, Quebec, was drafted in the seventh round (63rd pick) of the 2024 CFL Draft. Collegiately, Lavoie played four seasons at Carleton University (2019-23) playing guard and center in 29 games for the Ravens. In 2019, he was named the team’s Rookie of the Year.

Jaxon Morkin is six foot three and weighs 290 pounds. The 23-year-old from Windsor, Ontario, was drafted by the Edmonton Elks in the fourth round (30th pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft.

Collegiately, Morkin played four seasons at the University of Windsor (2019-23) making one catch for two yards, and one carry for 8 yards in 28 games for the Lancers. He helped the Lancers win their first playoff game in 50 years.

Jacob Spencer is six foot six and weighs 285 pounds. The 24-year-old from Brantford, Ontario, was drafted by the Edmonton Elks in the eighth round (66th pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft.

Collegiately, Spencer played one season at Grand Valley State University in 2019 with four tackles (4 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, and half a sack in two games for the Lakers. Then, Spencer transferred to Saginaw Valley State University (2021-23) with 25 tackles (8 solo, 17 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one pass breakup in 23 games for the Cardinals.

Olivier Muembi is six foot and weighs 226 pounds. The 24-year-old from Stoney Creek, Ontario, was drafted by the Edmonton Elks in the third round (21st pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft.

Collegiately, Muembi played three seasons at Delaware State University (2019-21) with 35 tackles (20 solo, 15 assists), 8 tackles for loss, one sack, and one pass breakup in 13 games for the Hornets. Then, Muembi transferred to Queen’s University in 2023 making 50 tackles (28 solo, 22 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, and one sack in 10 games for the Gaels.

D.K. Bonhomme is six foot two and weighs 237 pounds. The 24-year-old from Haiti, but resides in Ottawa, Ontario, battled injuries throughout his collegiate career. The Edmonton Elks drafted Bonhomme in the second round (10th pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft.

He played three seasons at Indiana University (2019-21) with 17 tackles (12 solo, 5 assists), two tackles for loss, and one sack in 24 games for the Hoosiers. Then, Bonhomme transferred to South Alabama in 2022 with six tackles (6 solo) in three games for the Jaguars. He missed the 2023 season due to injuries.

Joel Dublanko is six foot three and weighs 240 pounds. The 26-year-old from Aberdeen, Washington, was drafted by the Edmonton Elks in the first round (1st pick) in the 2024 CFL Draft. In 2023, Dublanko made 27 tackles (17 solo, 10 assists), half a sack, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in seven games, of which four were starts for the Philadelphia Stars (USFL).

Before Philadelphia, Dublanko signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent and later signed with the Seattle Seahawks. He attended the Seahawks training camp before being released. Then, Dublanko was drafted by the San Antonio Brahmas in the ninth round (71st pick) of the 2022 XFL Draft but was released on February 21, 2023.

Collegiately, Dublanko played five seasons at Cincinnati (2017-21) with 233 tackles (114 solo, 119 assists), 22 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, one interception for nine yards, two pass breakups, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, two kick returns for 24 yards, and one carry for 29 yards in 63 games for the Bearcats.

He was a team leader and captain in 2021 earning First-Team All-AAC after making 113 tackles (59 solo, 54 assists), 11.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, one interception for nine yards, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 14 games.

Eteva Mauga-Clemens is six foot one and weighs 220 pounds. Mauga-Clemens is a native of American Samoa. The 24-year-old from Pleasant Hill, California, ran a 4.73-second 40-yard dash, posted a 35-inch vertical leap, ran a 4.14-second shuttle and a 6.90-second 3 cone drill. The Edmonton Elks drafted Mauga-Clemens in the first round (1st pick) in the 2024 CFL Global Draft.

Collegiately, Mauga-Clemens played two seasons at Diablo Valley College (2018-19) with 82 tackles (64 solo, 18 assists), 29.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and two blocked kicks in 18 games for the Vikings. He was named the Bay 6 Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2019.

Then, Mauga-Clemens transferred to Nebraska (2020-22) with 45 tackles (20 solo, 25 assists), four tackles for loss, one sack, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble in 15 games for the Cornhuskers. He was named a two-time Academic All-Big Ten (2021-22).
