Arlington Renegades make several moves including signing RB Devin Darrington

The Arlington Renegades signed running back Devin Darrington and defensive lineman Darrius Moragne, while releasing offensive lineman Chris Owens and placed wide receiver Dae Dae Hunter on the injured reserve list on Monday according to the UFL Transactions page.

Devin Darrington is five foot nine and weighs 205 pounds. The 25-year-old from Forest Hill, Maryland, had 67 carries for 294 yards, four touchdowns, and nine catches for 85 yards in seven games for the Orlando Guardians in 2023. The Arlington Renegades drafted Darrington in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft and he was released on March 21, 2024.

Collegiately, Darrington played three seasons at Harvard University (2017-19) with 259 carries for 1,177 yards, 12 touchdowns, and eight catches for 70 yards in 22 games for the Crimson. He was named Second Team All-Ivy League in 2019. Then, Darrington transferred to Virginia in 2021 with 32 carries for 237 yards, two touchdowns, and four catches for 53 yards in 12 games for the Cavaliers.

Chris Owens is six foot three and weighs 305 pounds. The 26-year-old from Arlington, Texas, played two games for the Arlington Renegades in 2024. The Renegades are averaging 293.7 total yards per game, 216.5 passing yards per game, and 77.2 rushing yards per game.

In 2023, Owens started ten games for the Seattle Sea Dragons (XFL). Seattle’s offense helped quarterback Ben DiNucci lead the league in passing yards (2,671), and wide receiver Jahcour Pearson led the league in receiving yards (670). Seattle finished second in the XFL North Division standings and lost the North Divisional playoff game against the D.C. Defenders.

The Sea Dragons drafted Owens in the first round (3rd pick) in Phase 4 of the 2023 XFL Draft. Before Seattle, Owens signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He also had a brief stint with the New York Giants.

Collegiately, Owens played six seasons at Alabama (2016-21) playing 51 games, of which 19 were starts for the Crimson Tide. In 2021, Alabama’s offensive line helped open holes and provided time for the No. 6 scoring offense (39.9 ppg), No. 7 passing offense (338.2 ypg), and pass efficiency offense (166.5), the No. 3 unit in third-down conversion percentage (52.0) and the No. 5 red zone offense (.926).

Darrius Moragne is six foot five and weighs 295 pounds. The 26-year-old from Holland, Michigan, had signed a letter of intent to play for the San Antonio Brahmas before the XFL and USFL merged to form the United Football League (UFL). He signed with the Arlington Renegades on February 19, 2024, but was released on March 21, 2024.

Before Arlington, Moragne played for the Jousters (TSL) in 2021 helping them to appear in the Mega Bowl where they lost to the Linemen.

In 2022, Moragne was drafted by the Pittsburgh Maulers (USFL) in the tenth round (354th pick) of the 2022 USFL Supplemental Draft. He made 16 tackles (9 solo, 7 assists), three tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks in five games before an injury sidelined him and was later released.

Collegiately, Moragne played one season at Arizona Western College in 2017 making 13 tackles (3 solo, 10 assists), one tackle for loss, one sack, and one pass breakup in nine games for the Matadors. Then, he transferred to Kansas (2018-19) making 45 tackles (34 solo, 11 assists), 5.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one pass breakup in 15 games for the Jayhawks.

Dae Dae Hunter is five foot ten and weighs 194 pounds. The 24-year-old from Denver, Colorado, had 15 carries for 74 yards, one touchdown, and one catch for nine yards in three games for the Arlington Renegades in 2024. The Renegades signed Hunter as a free agent on December 12, 2023.

Collegiately, Hunter played two seasons at Hawaii (2020-21) with 147 carries for 834 yards, five touchdowns, 31 catches for 234 yards, two touchdowns, one kick return for 22 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 19 games for the Rainbow Warriors.

Then, Hunter transferred to Liberty in 2022 with 130 carries for 854 yards, eight touchdowns, 18 catches for 149 yards, one touchdown, one kick return for 19 yards, and three tackles (3 solo) in nine games for the Flames.
