The Saskatchewan Roughriders released defensive lineman Malakai Williams from the practice squad on Thursday.

Malakai Williams is six foot five and weighs 252 pounds. The 24-year-old from Chandler, Arizona, signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent on August 8, 2026. In 2026, he made three tackles (3 assists) in three preseason games. The Saints released him on August 30, 2026. The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Williams to the practice squad on September 20, 2026.

Collegiately, Williams spent five seasons at the University of Idaho (2020-24) with 64 tackles (29 solos, 35 assists), 11 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 36 games for the Vandals. In 2024, he was named an All-Big Sky Honorable Mention after finishing the season with 35 tackles (16 solos, 19 assists), 7.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble in 14 games.

Then, he transferred to Boise State University in 2025 with 11 tackles (5 solos, 6 assists), three tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in 13 games for the Broncos.
