Report: Green Bay Packers sign defensive backs Tra Fluellen and Trey Dean III

The Green Bay Packers signed defensive backs Tra Fluellen and Trey Dean III on Monday, according to James Larsen and Jordan Schultz.

Tra Fluellen is six foot two and weighs 210 pounds. The 25-year-old from Gilmer, Texas, was drafted by the Dallas Renegades in the 2026 UFL Draft. In 2026, he made 40 tackles (25 solos, 14 assists), one tackle for loss, one sack, one interception, and two pass breakups in 10 games.

Fluellen went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft. Then, the Houston Roughnecks drafted Fluellen in the second round (10th pick) of the 2024 UFL College Draft. The Roughnecks signed Fluellen on July 25, 2024. However, Fluellen would later sign with the New Orleans Saints on December 9, 2024. He was released by the Saints on June 20, 2025.

Collegiately, Fluellen played two seasons at Houston Baptist University (2019-20) with 126 tackles (72 solos, 54 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions for 66 yards, 12 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries in 16 games for the Huskies.

He was named First Team HERO Sports Freshman All-America in 2019 after finishing the season with 101 tackles (55 solos, 46 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions for 28 yards, 8 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries.

Then, Fluellen transferred to Middle Tennessee State University (2021-23) with 197 tackles (113 solos, 84 assists), 7.5 tackles for loss, one sack, five interceptions for 79 yards, one touchdown, 16 pass breakups, one punt return for 18 yards, and one touchdown in 36 games for the Blue Raiders.

In 2023, Fluellen made 64 tackles (41 solo, 23 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions for 47 yards, and six pass breakups in 10 games. He was named a two-time All-C-USA Honorable Mention.

Trey Dean III is six foot two and weighs 200 pounds. The 26-year-old from Hampton, Georgia, signed with the Louisville Kings on March 31, 2026. In 2026, Dean III made three tackles (3 solos) against the Orlando Storm. The Kings released him on April 14, 2026.

The St. Louis Battlehawks signed Dean III on April 21, 2026. Dean III made 15 tackles (11 solos, 4 assists), one sack, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in five games. In the UFL Semi-Finals against the Louisville Kings, Dean III made four tackles (1 solo, 3 assists).

The New York Jets signed Dean III as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2023. In 2023, he made 24 tackles (19 solos, 5 assists) in four preseason games. The Jets released him on August 29, 2024, and re-signed him a day later. He spent the season on the practice squad. Dean III also spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cleveland Browns.

The D.C. Defenders signed Dean III on May 21, 2025. In 2025, Dean III made six tackles (5 solos, 1 assist) and two tackles for loss in one game. The Defenders released him on February 24, 2026.

In the UFL playoffs, Dean III made 10 tackles (8 solos, 2 assists), one tackle for loss, one interception, and one pass breakup to help the Defenders win the UFL Championship over the Michigan Panthers. He was protected by the Defenders on January 13, 2026.

Collegiately, Dean III played five seasons at Florida (2018-22) with 259 tackles (141 solos, 118 assists), 13.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, three interceptions for 63 yards, 24 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries in 62 games for the Gators. He was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2018.
