The Calgary Stampeders released defensive lineman Shaun Peterson Jr. on Sunday.

Shaun Peterson Jr. is six foot three and weighs 231 pounds. The 26-year-old from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, made six tackles and one sack in five games for the Stampeders in 2026.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Peterson Jr. as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, he did not play in the preseason and was released on September 5, 2024. The Calgary Stampeders signed Peterson Jr. on January 22, 2025. In 2025, he made five tackles, six tackles on special teams, and three sacks in six games.

Collegiately, Peterson Jr. played five seasons at Florida International University (2018-22) as a running back and linebacker with 28 tackles (15 solos, 13 assists), eight tackles for loss, six sacks, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 105 carries for 478 yards, four touchdowns, and three catches for 22 yards in 39 games for the Panthers.

Then, he transferred to the University of Central Florida in 2023 with 14 tackles (10 solos, 4 assists), one tackle for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble in 12 games for the Knights.
