The NTT IndyCar Series visited Portland International Raceway on Sunday afternoon in the OnlyBulls Grand Prix of Portland. Felix Rosenqvist started the race on the pole, with Alex Palou starting second.
Felix Rosenqvist led the opening 30 laps. During his time leading, there was the first and only caution of the race on the seventh lap when Graham Rahal locked up the brakes and went into the tire barrier in Turn 12. Rosenqvist went to pit road on lap 31. Alex Palou took the lead before making a pit stop a lap later. Palou’s crew was able to get him out in front of Rosenqvist.
After Josef Newgarden led five laps, Palou went back to the lead. He led until lap 55 before making his second stop. Felix Rosenqvist, Will Power, and Josef Newgarden all led laps before Palou went back to the lead. Palou would make his final pit stop on lap 82. Will Power took the lead. He led five laps before making his final pit stop.
Alex Palou dominated this race, leading 60 of 110 laps, including the final 23 laps, to win his sixth race of the season by 4.1167 over Felix Rosenqvist. It was his 25th career IndyCar win, and he is closing in on winning a record-tying fourth consecutive IndyCar title.
Will Power, Rinus VeeKay, and Kyle Kirkwood rounded out the top five. Marcus Ericsson, Scott McLaughlin, Josef Newgarden, Christian Lundgaard, and Kyffin Simpson completed the top ten. Click here to view the full results.
The NTT IndyCar Series heads to Markham, Ontario, next Sunday for the Ontario Honda Indy at Markham at 12 pm on Fox.
