The NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series visited Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday afternoon in the Pennzoil 250 Presented by Take 5 Oil Change. Sheldon Creed started the race on the pole, with Carson Kvapil starting second.
Sheldon Creed led the opening 23 laps before heading to pit road. Jeremy Clements was the new leader. He led nine laps to win the first stage. Clements would experience a mechanical issue late in the race. He finished 37th place three laps down.
In the second stage, there was one on-track caution as Garrett Smithley spun at Turn 2. Late in the stage, Ross Chastain led 16 laps before making a pit stop, followed by Dean Thompson taking the lead. He led two laps before Rajah Caruth took the lead and went on to win the second stage.
In the final stage, Justin Allgaier led four laps, and Ross Chastain led 12 laps. Carson Kvapil passed Chastain for the lead on lap 79. Late in the race, Justin Allgaier was chasing Kvapil. Kvapil led the final 22 laps to win his first career O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race by 0.643 seconds over Allgaier. Kvapil led 23 of 100 laps.
Ross Chastain, Chase Elliott, and William Sawalich rounded out the top five. For the first time in O’Reilly Auto Parts Series history, JR Motorsports finished in the top four positions.
