The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed running back Star Thomas on Wednesday.
Star Thomas is six foot and weighs 210 pounds. The 24-year-old from Homer, Louisiana, began his collegiate career at Coffeyville Community College (2020-21) in Kansas with 160 carries for 970 yards, 11 rushing touchdowns, eight catches for 36 yards, and two kick returns for 32 yards in 14 games for the Red Ravens.
In a game against Butler Community College, he had 20 carries for 227 yards and two rushing touchdowns, including an 82-yard run. Thomas was named First Team All-KJCCC in 2021.
Next, he transferred to New Mexico State University (2022-23) with 220 carries for 1,173 yards, nine rushing touchdowns, 34 catches for 351 yards, five touchdowns, three kick returns for 47 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 28 games for the Aggies.
In 2023, he was named Second Team All-Conference USA after finishing the season with 112 carries for 653 yards, four rushing touchdowns, 22 catches for 200 yards, two touchdowns, and three kick returns for 47 yards in 15 games.
Then, Thomas transferred to Duke University in 2024 with 213 carries for 871 yards, seven rushing touchdowns, 20 catches for 153 yards, and one touchdown in 12 games for the Blue Devils.
Thomas concluded his collegiate career at the University of Tennessee in 2025 with 104 carries for 596 yards, seven rushing touchdowns, 11 catches for 116 yards, and two touchdowns in 13 games for the Volunteers. Thomas averaged 5.7 carries per game, 45.8 yards per game, 10.5 catches per game, and 8.9 receiving yards per game.
