The B.C. Lions re-signed wide receivers Michael Fitzgerald II and Hergy Mayala to the practice squad on Monday.
Michael Fitzgerald II is six foot six and weighs 210 pounds. The 23-year-old Atlanta, Georgia, signed with the B.C. Lions on April 27, 2026. In 2026, he made five catches for 60 yards in two preseason games. The Lions released him on May 31, 2026.
Collegiately, Fitzgerald II began his collegiate career at the University of Massachusetts (2021-22) with three catches for 35 yards in 12 games for the Minutemen.
Next, he transferred to the University of Central Missouri (2023-24) with 55 catches for 835 yards, eight touchdowns, and one tackle (1 solo) in 22 games for the Mules. In 2023, he made a career-high 32 catches for 526 yards and five touchdowns in 13 games.
Then, he transferred to Wyoming in 2025 with 16 catches for 228 yards, three touchdowns, and two tackles (2 solos) in 12 games for the Cowboys.
Hergy Mayala is six foot one and weighs 208 pounds. The 30-year-old from Congo, who later grew up in Montreal, Quebec, re-signed with the B.C. Lions on January 29, 2026. In 2026, he made four catches for 31 yards and one touchdown in two preseason games. The Lions released him on May 31, 2026.
The Calgary Stampeders drafted Mayala in the first round (8th pick) of the 2019 CFL Draft. In his rookie season, Mayala caught 38 passes for 562 yards and five touchdowns for the Stampeders. In 2021, Mayala caught 29 passes for 284 yards and three tackles in 13 games. He became a free agent after the 2021 season. The Montreal Alouettes signed him on February 8, 2022.
In 2022, Mayala made 33 catches for 409 yards and two touchdowns in 18 games for the Alouettes before he was released. He signed with the New Orleans Breakers on February 15, 2023, but was released on April 10, 2023.
The Montreal Alouettes re-signed Mayala on May 4, 2023. In 2023, he made seven catches for 118 yards in ten games. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed Mayala as a free agent on October 6, 2023. He made two tackles on special teams in two games.
The Edmonton Elks signed Mayala on April 9, 2024. In 2024, he made 41 catches for 503 yards, five touchdowns, and one tackle in 12 games. He missed most of the season with a calf injury.
Mayala signed with the Toronto Argonauts on February 11, 2025. In 2025, Mayala made three catches for 40 yards in seven games. The Argonauts released him on August 7, 2025. The B.C. Lions signed Mayala to the practice squad on August 11, 2025. The Lions released him on November 11, 2025.
Collegiately, Mayala played four seasons at the University of Connecticut (2015-18) with 113 catches for 1,352 yards, 12 touchdowns, and four tackles (3 solos, 1 assist) in 43 games for the Huskies.
The Lions released defensive lineman Sione Teuhema.
Sione Teuhema is six foot four and weighs 245 pounds. The 30-year-old from Keller, Texas, re-signed with the Lions on January 2, 2026. In 2026, he made two tackles in two games.
Teuhema attended rookie minicamps with the Chicago Bears and New York Jets in 2018. Next, he played for the Arizona Hotshots (AAF) in 2019 with 19 tackles (12 solos, 7 assists), one sack, and one forced fumble in eight games.
After the league folded, Teuhema signed with the Carolina Panthers and was placed on the practice squad. In 2021, Teuhema played for the Frisco Fighters (IFL) with nine tackles (7 solos, 3 assists), three tackles for loss, and one sack in three games.

The Lions re-signed Teuhema on January 3, 2024. In 2024, he made 36 tackles, two tackles on special teams, and seven sacks in 18 games. In 2025, he made 14 tackles, one tackle on special teams, and three sacks in nine games.
Collegiately, Teuhema played two seasons at LSU (2015-16) with 20 tackles (10 solos, 10 assists), four tackles for loss, and two sacks in 16 games for the Tigers.
Then, Teuhema transferred to Southeastern Louisiana (2016-17) with 109 tackles (75 solos, 34 assists), 26.5 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, one interception for 17 yards, three pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 19 games for the Lions. He was named Second Team All-Southland Conference in 2016.
