The Edmonton Elks signed defensive end Brandon “B.J.” Thompson and released wide receiver Ifeoluwa “Ife” Adeyi on Sunday, according to the CFL Transactions page.
Brandon “B.J.” Thompson is six foot six and weighs 243 pounds. The 27-year-old from Little Rock, Arkansas, re-signed with the Calgary Stampeders on January 26, 2026. He attended training camp before the Stampeders released him on May 13, 2026.
The Kansas City Chiefs drafted Thompson in the fifth round (166th pick) of the 2023 NFL Draft. In 2023, he made two tackles (2 solos) in one regular-season game. He was on the roster when the Chiefs won Super Bowl LVIII. He was placed on the Non-Football Illness List and did not play the last two seasons. The Chiefs released him on September 12, 2025.
The Calgary Stampeders signed Thompson to the practice squad on September 22, 2025. The Stampeders released him on November 2, 2025.
Collegiately, Thompson played two seasons at Baylor (2017-18) with 18 tackles (12 solos, 6 assists), six tackles for loss, four sacks, two pass breakups, three blocked kicks, and one interception for six yards in 19 games for the Bears.
Then, he transferred to Stephen F. Austin (2020-22) with 79 tackles (43 solos, 36 assists), 27.5 tackles for loss, 20.5 sacks, one interception for three pass breakups, five forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and one touchdown in 33 games for the Lumberjacks.
Ifeoluwa “Ife” Adeyi is five foot ten and weighs 175 pounds. The 25-year-old from Mansfield, Texas, signed with the Edmonton Elks on January 29, 2026.
The Philadelphia Eagles signed Adeyi as an undrafted free agent on June 4, 2025. In 2025, he played in three preseason games. The Eagles released him on August 26, 2025.
Collegiately, Adeyi spent six seasons at Sam Houston State (2019-24) with 164 catches for 2,312 yards, 19 touchdowns, 36 carries for 306 yards, four rushing touchdowns, 14 kick returns for 254 yards, 10 punt returns for 63 yards, and four tackles (3 solos, 1 assist) in 54 games for the Bearkats.
In the spring 2020-21 season, Adeyi was named Second Team All-Southland Conference after finishing the season with 30 catches for 588 yards, three touchdowns, and seven carries for 52 yards, two rushing touchdowns in 10 games, helping the Bearkats win the FCS Championship over South Dakota State. In the FCS title game, he made five catches for 73 yards and a game-winning touchdown.
In 2021, he was named Second Team All-WAC after finishing the season with a career-high 54 catches for 742 yards, three touchdowns, seven carries for 64 yards, one kick return for 24 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 12 games.
Adeyi attended Mansfield Legacy High School, where, as a junior made 20 catches for 450 yards, seven touchdowns, and in his senior season made 28 catches for 615 yards, and seven touchdowns. He was also a member of Mansfield Legacy’s Track & Field program, running for its 4×100 and 4×200-meter relay teams that claimed 2018 Texas Class 5A state titles.
