The Saskatchewan Roughriders released running back Peny Boone, wide receiver Collin Brunstein, offensive lineman Dartanyan Tinsley, defensive linemen Nathan Pickering and Kevin Orange Jr., and defensive backs Austin McKinney and D’Angelo Mandell on Sunday.

Peny Boone is six foot one and weighs 232 pounds. The 24-year-old from Detroit, Michigan, signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on  February 10, 2026.

Boone attended the Carolina Panthers rookie minicamp in 2025. The Toronto Argonauts signed Boone to the practice squad on August 5, 2025. The Argonauts released him on October 25, 2025.

Collegiately, Boone played two seasons at Maryland (2020-21) with 58 carries for 258 yards, two rushing touchdowns, five catches for 23 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 14 games for the Terrapins. Next, he transferred to Toledo (2022-23) with 310 carries for 1,843 yards, 18 rushing touchdowns, 25 catches for 303 yards, one touchdown, and one tackle (1 solo) in 26 games for the Rockets.

He was named First Team All-MAC and Offensive Player of the Year in 2023. That season, he had 194 yards for 1,400 yards, 15 rushing touchdowns, 15 catches for 219 yards, one touchdown, and one tackle (1 solo) in 13 games.

Then, Boone transferred to Louisville. However, he re-entered the transfer portal and went to the University of Central Florida in 2024. In 2024, he had 34 carries for 208 yards, two rushing touchdowns, and one catch for nine yards in six games for the Knights.

Collin Brunstein is six foot and weighs 190 pounds. A native of Jacksonville, Illinois, Brunstein attended the Los Angeles Chargers rookie minicamp in 2025. The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Brunstein on December 3, 2025.

Collegiately, Brunstein spent five seasons at Illinois College (2020-24) with 219 catches for 5,036 yards, 76 touchdowns, seven carries for 23 yards, one rushing touchdown, 43 kickoff returns for 2,379 yards, 13 kick returns for 278 yards, one touchdown, one punt return for 14 yards, 14 tackles (13 solos, 1 assist), two interceptions for 52 yards, one touchdown, and three pass breakups in 40 games for the Blueboys.

In 2024, Brunstein made 73 catches for 1,540 yards, 27 touchdowns, one carry for -1 yard, seven kickoff returns for 424 yards, two kick returns for 105 yards, one touchdown, and two tackles (2 solos) in 10 games.

In his junior season in 2023, he made 91 catches for 2,200 yards, 31 touchdowns, one carry for one yard, one rushing touchdown, 20 kickoff returns for 1,139 yards, one punt return for 14 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 11 games on his way to being named First Team All-Midwest Conference. He set both Illinois College and Midwest Conference single-season records in receiving yards and touchdowns.

He was named Second Team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association, and participated in the FBS Tropical Bowl. He concluded his collegiate career as the school’s all-time leader in receiving yards and touchdown receptions.

Dartanyan Tinsley is six foot four and weighs 320 pounds. The 25-year-old from Owensboro, Kentucky, signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on March 9, 2026.

The Cleveland Browns signed Tinsley as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2025. In 2025, he played in three preseason games. The Browns released him on August 24, 2025.

Collegiately, Tinsley spent two seasons at Kentucky Christian University (2020-21). He began as a defensive lineman with 33 tackles (7 solos, 26 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble in eight games for the Knights. He was named First Team All-NCCAA. In 2021, he switched to the offensive line, where he played five games. He was named First Team All-NCCAA for the second straight season.

Then, he transferred to Cincinnati (2022-24), playing left guard in 30 games, of which 21 were starts for the Bearcats. He was considered one of the top guards in the Big 12. In 2023, he started 12 games. Cincinnati averaged 426.1 yards per game, 209 passing yards per game, 217.1 rushing yards per game, and 35 touchdowns.

Nathan Pickering is six foot four and weighs 305 pounds. The 25-year-old from Mount Olive, Mississippi, signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on May 4, 2026.

The Seattle Seahawks signed Pickering as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2024. In 2024, he dealt with an injury and did not play in the preseason. The Seahawks released him on August 23, 2024.

Collegiately, Pickering spent five seasons at Mississippi State (2019-23) with 124 tackles (49 solos, 75 assists), 23.5 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery in 51 games for the Bulldogs. In 2023, he made a career-high 44 tackles (17 solos, 27 assists), three tackles for loss, two sacks, and one fumble recovery in 12 games.

Kevin Orange Jr. is six foot four and weighs 240 pounds. The 25-year-old from Kansas City, Missouri, signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on September 18, 2025. He was on the practice squad when the Roughriders won the 112th Grey Cup.

Collegiately, Orange Jr. began at Arkansas Baptist College in 2019 as a running back. In 2018, he had 41 carries for 223 yards and one rushing touchdown in eight games for the Buffaloes.

Next, he transferred to Kansas in 2021, switching to defensive end. He appeared in one game for the Jayhawks against West Virginia. Next, he transferred to Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 2023 with 12 tackles (9 solos, 3 assists), three tackles for loss, and one forced fumble in eight games for the Rangers.

Then, he transferred to Graceland University in 2024 with 41 tackles (26 solos, 15 assists), 16 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, two pass breakups, and two forced fumbles in 11 games for the Yellow Jackets. He was named First Team All-Heart of America Conference, and he was invited to the FCS National Bowl in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Austin McKinney is six foot two and weighs 200 pounds. A native of Battle Creek, Michigan, McKinney attended the Cleveland Browns rookie minicamp in 2025. The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed McKinney on May 1, 2026.

Collegiately, McKinney spent two seasons at Saginaw Valley State University (2017-18), playing two games for the Cardinals. Next, he transferred to Saddleback College (2021-22) with 33 tackles (17 solos, 16 assists), one tackle for loss, three interceptions, one fumble recovery, and four pass breakups in nine games for the Bobcats. He was named the team’s defensive MVP.

Then, he transferred to Northwest Missouri State University (2023-24) with 54 tackles (44 solos, 10 assists), one tackle for loss, one interception, 16 pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 22 games for the Bearcats.

D’Angelo Mandell is six foot one and weighs 192 pounds. The 27-year-old from San Diego, California, signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on November 3, 2025.

The Dallas Cowboys signed Mandell as an undrafted free agent on May 12, 2023. He made seven tackles (4 solos, 3 assists) and one pass breakup in three preseason games. The Cowboys released him on August 29, 2023, and he signed with the Washington Commanders on January 2, 2024. The Commanders released him on May 7, 2024. The St. Louis Battlehawks on August 30, 2024. He attended training camp and was released on March 20, 2025.

Collegiately, Mandell played five seasons at BYU (2018-22) with 90 tackles (56 solos, 34 assists), four tackles for loss, and six pass breakups in 56 games for the Cougars. His career best season for BYU came in 2021 with 36 tackles (25 solos, 11 assists), one tackle for loss, and four pass breakups in 13 games.

The Roughriders also placed wide receiver Freddie Swain, offensive lineman Justin Osborne, defensive lineman Aaron Patrick, and kicker Alex Hale on the retired list, and linebacker Ryder Varga was moved to the six-game injured list.
