The NTT IndyCar Series began the month of May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course on Saturday in the Sonsio Grand Prix. Alex Palou started the race on the pole, with Pato O’Ward starting second.
On the opening lap, a five-car crash occurred involving Felix Rosenqvist, Caio Collet, Scott Dixon, Pato O’Ward, and Louis Foster. It was one of three cautions throughout the race. Alex Palou led the opening 24 laps. Alexander Rossi suffered a mechanical failure on lap 22, and a three-car crash involving Rosenqvist, Marcus Armstrong, and Kyffin Simpson happened on lap 28.
Late in the race, David Malukas, who led a race-high 27 of 85 laps, was leading with Christian Lundgaard getting closer to his rear-view mirror. With 18 laps to go, Lundgaard charged past Malukas between Turns 5 and 6. He led the final 18 laps to win his second career NTT IndyCar Series race by 4.6713 seconds over Malukas.
Lundgaard led 20 of 85 laps, snapping a 47-race winless streak. His last win came at the Honda Indy Toronto on July 16, 2023. Graham Rahal, Josef Newgarden, and Alex Palou rounded out the top five. Scott Dixon, Louis Foster, Dennis Hauger, Kyle Kirkwood, and Nolan Siegel completed the top ten. Click here to see the rest of the results.
The NTT IndyCar Series will set the field for the 110th Indianapolis 500 next weekend. The 110th Indianapolis 500 race will be on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at 10 am on Fox.
