The Toronto Argonauts released defensive lineman Malachi Bailey and defensive back Jonathan Edouard on Wednesday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Malachi Bailey is six foot two and weighs 278 pounds. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Bailey signed with the Toronto Argonauts on April 29, 2026.
Collegiately, Bailey began his collegiate career at Independence Community College (2020-21) with 38 tackles (24 solos, 14 assists), eight tackles for loss, three sacks, and one fumble recovery in 15 games for the Pirates.
Next, he transferred to Alcorn State (2022-24) with 128 tackles (69 solos, 59 assists), 46.5 tackles for loss, 28 sacks, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries in 34 games for the Braves. In 2024, he made 54 tackles (27 solos, 27 assists), 19.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 12 games. He was named a two-time First Team All-SWAC (2023-24).
Then, he transferred to Arizona in 2025 with 22 tackles (11 solos, 11 assists), 3.5 tackles for loss, and half a sack in 13 games for the Wildcats.
Jonathan Edouard is five foot eleven and weighs 185 pounds. The 30-year-old from Orlando, Florida, made one tackle and 11 tackles on special teams in 17 games in 2025.
The Toronto Argonauts signed Edouard on September 30, 2022. He spent the season on the practice squad. In 2023, he made six tackles, 11 tackles on special teams, and one sack in 18 games. In 2024, Edouard made six tackles, one tackle on special teams, and one interception in six games, helping them win the 111th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Collegiately, Edouard played three seasons at Henderson State University (2014-16) with 69 tackles (47 solos, 22 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, half a sack, two interceptions, 11 pass breakups, one fumble recovery, and completed one pass for three yards in 32 games for the Reddies.
Then, Edouard transferred to Carleton (2018-19, 2021) with 62 tackles (48 solos, 14 assists), three interceptions for 21 yards, seven pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 15 games for the Ravens. Edouard was named Second Team OUA All-Star in 2018.
