The Houston Gamblers released wide receiver LuJuan Winningham and defensive back B.J. Mayes on Tuesday according to the UFL Transactions page.

LuJuan Winningham is six foot three and weighs 198 pounds. The 27-year-old from Humble, Texas, was drafted by the Houston Gamblers in the 2026 UFL Draft. In 2026, he made three catches for 36 yards in four games.

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed Winningham as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2022. In 2022, he made one catch for eight yards in one preseason game. The Jaguars released him on August 22, 2022.

The Arlington Renegades drafted Winningham in the third round (23rd pick) in Phase 1 of the 2023 XFL Draft. B.J. Mayes is six foot and weighs 187 pounds. The 23-year-old from Houston, Texas, was drafted by the Houston Gamblers in the 2026 UFL Draft. In 2026, he made nine tackles (7 solos, 2 assists) in four games.

The Philadelphia Eagles signed Mayes as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2025. The Eagles released him on August 3, 2025. The Indianapolis Colts signed Mayes on August 9, 2025. In 2025, he made three tackles (2 solos, 1 assist) and one pass breakup in two preseason games. The Colts released him on August 26, 2025.

Collegiately, Mayes spent two seasons at Incarnate Word (2021-22) with 53 tackles (42 solos, 11 assists), three tackles for loss, one interception, and 14 pass breakups in 20 games for the Cardinals. Next, he transferred to the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2023 with 41 tackles (31 solos, 10 assists), one tackle for loss, two interceptions, and 12 pass breakups in 12 games for the Blazers.

Then, he transferred to Texas A&M in 2024 with 30 tackles (20 solos, 10 assists), one tackle for loss, four interceptions, nine pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 11 games for the Aggies.
