Ottawa Redblacks sign WR Roc Taylor, two others

The Ottawa Redblacks signed wide receiver Roc Taylor, and defensive backs Gavin Holmes and Quenton Meeks on Monday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Roc Taylor is six foot one and weighs 212 pounds. The 23-year-old from Oxford, Alabama, was drafted by the Columbus Aviators in the 2026 UFL Draft. In 2026, Taylor made two catches for 23 yards in two games. The Aviators released him on April 7, 2026.

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed Taylor as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2025. In 2025, Taylor made five catches for 77 yards in two preseason games. The Steelers released him on August 18, 2025.

Collegiately, Taylor spent four seasons at the University of Memphis (2021-24) with 163 catches for 2,375 yards, seven touchdowns, and five carries for 12 yards in 44 games for the Tigers.

In 2023, he was named Second Team All-AAC after finishing the season with a career-high 69 catches for 1,083 yards, four touchdowns, and two carries for two yards. In 2024, he was named First Team All-AAC after finishing the season with 66 catches for 950 yards, two touchdowns, and two carries for five yards in 13 games.

Gavin Holmes is five foot eleven and weighs 185 pounds. The 24-year-old from New Orleans, Louisiana, signed with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent on April 27, 2025. He was released on June 2, 2025. The Edmonton Elks signed Holmes to the practice squad on October 6, 2025. The Elks released him on October 21, 2025.

Collegiately, Holmes played three seasons at Wake Forest (2020-22) with 45 tackles (26 solos, 9 assists), three tackles for loss, two interceptions for 34 yards, one touchdown, 13 pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 27 games for the Demon Deacons.

Then, he transferred to Texas (2023-24) with 30 tackles (23 solos, 7 assists), half a tackle for loss, and five pass breakups in 30 games for the Longhorns.

Quenton Meeks is six foot one and weighs 2015 pounds. The 28-year-old from San Diego, California, signed with the Montreal Alouettes on March 19, 2025. The Alouettes released him on May 14, 2025.

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed Meeks as an undrafted free agent on April 30, 2018. He also spent time with the Los Angeles Chargers and the Tennessee Titans. Meeks made 8 tackles (7 solos, 1 assist) and one punt return for one yard in 14 regular-season games, of which 12 were in Jacksonville and two in Los Angeles.

The Tampa Bay Bandits drafted Meeks in the second round (290th pick) of the 2022 USFL Supplemental Draft. In 2022, he made 49 tackles (29 solos, 20 assists) and one interception in nine games. In 2023, the Tampa Bay Bandits rebranded as the Memphis Showboats. He made 21 tackles (12 solos, 9 assists) and one interception in seven games. In 2024, Meeks made 29 tackles (18 solos, 11 assists), one sack, and two interceptions in 10 games.

Meeks is the son of Ron Meeks, who was an NFL coach for 22 years and won Super Bowl XLI in 2007 as a defensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts over the Chicago Bears.

Collegiately, Meeks played three seasons at Stanford (2015-17) with 117 tackles (74 solos, 47 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss, seven interceptions for 144 yards, two touchdowns, and 18 pass breakups in 38 games for the Cardinal. He was named Second Team All-PAC 12 in 2017.
