The Montreal Alouettes signed wide receiver Ja’Coby Matthews on Monday according to the CFL Transactions page.
Ja’Coby Matthews is five foot ten and weighs 167 pounds. A native of McComb, Mississippi, Matthews transferred to Alcorn State University in 2025 with 21 catches for 209 yards, two touchdowns, four kick returns for 72 yards, 10 punt returns for 215 yards, one touchdown, and one tackle (1 solo) in six games for the Braves.
Collegiately, Matthews spent two seasons at Southwest Mississippi Community College (2021-22) with 29 catches for 556 yards, five touchdowns, one carry for -9 yards, four kick returns for 29 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in 13 games for the Bears. In 2021, he made 11 catches for 222 yards, two touchdowns, four kick returns for 29 yards, and one tackle (1 solo) in seven games. In 2022, he made 29 catches for 334 yards, three touchdowns, and one carry for -9 yards in 13 games.
Matthews transferred to Florida International University (2023-24) with three tackles (2 solos, 1 assist) in five games for the Panthers.
