The Repco Supercars Championship visited Albert Park in Melbourne, Victoria, to kick off the weekend with Race 4 in the Melbourne SuperSprint on Thursday as part of the F1 Australian Grand Prix weekend.

The total laps of this race was 19. Brodie Kostecki, who came into this race dealing with an illness, started on the pole with James Golding starting second.

On the opening lap, Kai Allen and Aaron Crawford both went around Turn 3. Matthew Payne, who started fourth, passed both Broc Feeney and James Golding for second place. Payne challenged Feeney several times for the lead, but could not make the pass. The only time a safety car was deployed was when Jackson Walls spun into the gravel trap at Turn 11 on lap six.

After the race resumed, Kostecki led Payne with nine laps to go. Broc Feeney passed Golding for third place. For the rest of the race, Kostecki was in defense mode, trying to hold off Matthew Payne, while Feeney and Golding were going at it for third place.

Brodie Kostecki succeeded in holding off Matthew Payne, winning the race by 0.4685 seconds. It was Kotecki’s first win of the season. Broc Feeney, James Golding, and Chaz Mostert rounded out the top five. Cameron Waters, Ryan Wood, Will Brown, Anton De Pasquale, and Cooper Murray completed the top ten.

The Melbourne SuperSprint continues on Friday at 1:20 am on YouTube.
