The Louisville Kings signed running back Ian Wheeler on Tuesday according to James Larsen.

Ian Wheeler is five foot ten and weighs 206 pounds. The 24-year-old from Houston, Texas, signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024. In 2024, he had 12 carries for 52 yards, two rushing touchdowns, and two catches for 14 yards in three preseason games. In 2025, he had 26 carries for 100 yards, two rushing touchdowns, and one catch for 14 yards in two preseason games. The Bears released him on December 2, 2025.

Collegiately, Wheeler spent five seasons at Howard University (2019-23) with 177 carries for 1,154 yards, 14 rushing touchdowns, 23 catches for 234 yards, one touchdown, 52 kick returns for 1,322 yards, three touchdowns, and 21 tackles (13 solos, 8 assists) in 42 games for the Bison.

In 2021, he was named Second Team All-MEAC after finishing the season with 65 carries for 443 yards, eight rushing touchdowns, five catches for 31 yards, 11 kick returns for 265 yards, one touchdown, and four tackles (2 solos, 2 assists) in eight games.

In 2022, he was named Second Team All-MEAC by Bluebloods and Phil Steele after finishing the season with 57 carries for 316 yards, three rushing touchdowns, nine catches for 84 yards, one touchdown, 19 kick returns for 424 yards, one touchdown, and four tackles (3 solos, 1 assist) in 11 games.

He concluded his collegiate season in 2023 with 52 carries for 380 yards, two rushing touchdowns, nine catches for 119 yards, 17 kick returns for 494 yards, one touchdown, and seven tackles (4 solos, 3 assists) in 11 games.
