The Saskatchewan Roughriders re-signed quarterback Jack Coan to a one-year contract extension through the 2026 season and wide receiver Kian Schaffer-Baker to a two-year contract extension through the 2027 season, and signed defensive lineman Desmond Evans on Monday.

Jack Coan is six foot three and weighs 223 pounds. The 27-year-old from Sayville, New York, in 2025 completed 2 of 8 passes (25%) for 38 yards, 13 carries for 40 yards, and three rushing touchdowns in five games.

The Indianapolis Colts signed Coan as an undrafted free agent in 2022. In 2022, he completed 10 of 19 passes (52.6%) for 91 yards and one touchdown in three preseason games. The Colts released him on August 30, 2022.

The San Antonio Brahmas drafted Coan in the second round (9th pick) of Phase 7 in the 2023 XFL Draft. They signed Coan on November 17, 2022. In 2023, he completed 158 of 254 passes (62.2%) for 1,471 yards, six touchdowns, six interceptions, and 26 carries for 108 yards in eight games. The Brahmas released him on February 15, 2024.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed Coan on March 15, 2024. In 2024, he completed 10 of 21 passes (47.6%) for 100 yards, one touchdown, and three carries for 18 yards in 18 games.

Collegiately, Coan played three seasons at Wisconsin (2017-19), completing 297 of 437 passes (68%) for 3,278 yards, 23 touchdowns, eight interceptions, 76 carries for -11 yards, five touchdowns, and one catch for -4 yards in 25 games for the Badgers. Coan was an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention in 2019 and was a preseason semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy in 2020.

Then, Coan transferred to Notre Dame in 2021, completing 253 of 386 passes (65.5%) for 3,150 yards, 25 touchdowns, seven interceptions, 57 carries for -100 yards, and two touchdowns in 13 games for the Fighting Irish. He was named Second Team All-Independent by Phil Steele in 2021.

Kian Schaffer-Baker is six foot four and weighs 195 pounds. The 27-year-old from Mississauga, Ontario, made 15 catches for 177 yards and one carry for one yard in five games. He missed most of the season with a foot injury.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders drafted Schaffer-Baker in the fourth round (30th pick) of the 2020 CFL Draft. In his rookie season, Schaffer-Baker caught 47 passes for 563 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games. In 2022, Schaffer-Baker made 68 catches for 960 yards, five touchdowns, and 13 carries for 74 yards in 18 games.

He was Saskatchewan’s nominee for Most Outstanding Canadian in 2022 and Most Outstanding Rookie in 2021. In 2023, Schaffer-Baker made 38 catches for 430 yards, three touchdowns, and two carries for six yards in nine games. In 2024, Schaffer-Baker made 52 catches for 735 yards, four touchdowns, and one carry for -4 yards in 14 games.

Collegiately, Schaffer-Baker played four seasons at the University of Guelph (2016-19) with 95 catches for 1,544 yards and eight touchdowns in 28 games for the Gryphons. In the 2019 East-West Bowl, he led all receivers with five catches for 126 yards and one touchdown.

Desmond Evans is six foot five and weighs 265 pounds. A native of Sanford, North Carolina, Evans signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2025. In 2025, Evans made three tackles (2 solos, 1 assist) in three preseason games. The Titans released him on August 25, 2025.

Collegiately, Evans spent five seasons at North Carolina (2020-24) with 124 tackles (56 solos, 68 assists), 20.5 tackles for loss, nine sacks, six pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries in 55 games for the Tar Heels. In his final season, Evans had a career-high 38 tackles (18 solos, 20 assists), 10 tackles for loss, five sacks, and one pass breakup in 12 games.
