Saskatchewan Roughriders defeat the Alouettes to win the 112th Grey Cup

The Saskatchewan Roughriders (12-6) and the Montreal Alouettes (10-8) played the 112th Grey Cup game on Sunday night from Princess Auto Stadium in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The Roughriders were making their first Grey Cup appearance in 12 years, while the Alouettes returned to the Grey Cup for the first time in two years. Montreal quarterback Davis Alexander came into this game 13-0 as a starter (including playoffs). His undefeated streak would come to an end on this night.

First Quarter:

Montreal wide receiver Tyson Philpot returned a 62-yard kickoff for 23 yards to the 41-yard line. Running back Stevie Scott III started the drive with a nine-yard run, followed by third-string quarterback Shea Patterson’s two-yard run to the 52-yard line.

On the next play, Davis Alexander’s pass intended for Tyson Philpot was underthrown and intercepted by Marcus Sayles. He returned it for 25 yards to the 38-yard line with 13:15 left.
