The Montreal Alouettes re-signed offensive lineman Jamar McGloster and defensive back Dionté Ruffin to two-year contract extensions through the 2025 season on Tuesday.

Jamar McGloster is six foot seven and weighs 308 pounds. The 28-year-old from Hillside, New Jersey, played 11 games, of which nine were starts in 2023. In the 110th Grey Cup, McGloster opened up room for running back William Stanback to score a 32-yard touchdown in a 28-24 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Montreal’s offense finished seventh in offensive points per game (20.6), fourth in touchdowns (43), sixth in average net offensive yards (329.7), fifth in average rushing yards (102.2), sixth in average passing yards (250.0), and eighth in sacks allowed (61).

The Alouettes signed McGloster as a free agent on July 17, 2022, and was placed on the practice squad. Before Montreal, McGloster signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He also had stops with the Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Chargers, and Oakland Raiders.

In 2019, McGloster signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He was a backup in the first three games before moving to the practice squad. After Winnipeg, McGloster returned to the Los Angeles Chargers and later signed with the Ottawa Redblacks in 2020 but the season was canceled due to COVID-19.

In 2022, McGloster signed with the B.C. Lions but was released in the final week of training camp before signing with the Montreal Alouettes.

Collegiately, McGloster played four seasons at Syracuse (2014-17) playing 30 games at right tackle, including 24 consecutive starts for the Orange. In 2017, Syracuse’s offense ranked third in the ACC in total offense (456.3 YPG) and second in passing (294.8 YPG).

In 2016, Syracuse’s offense had 5,290 total yards (440.8 YPG) and protected Syracuse’s quarterbacks who ranked 11th nationally and second in the ACC in passing (321.3 YPG).

Dionté Ruffin is five foot ten and weighs 177 pounds. The 24-year-old from Kenner, Louisiana, made 23 tackles and one forced fumble in 12 games for the Alouettes in 2023. The Alouettes signed Ruffin as a free agent on December 12, 2022.

Before Montreal, the Chicago Bears signed Ruffin as an undrafted free agent in 2021. Then, the Calgary Stampeders signed Ruffin as a free agent on February 1, 2022. He made 39 tackles, one tackle on special teams, and one interception in nine games for the Stampeders.

Collegiately, Ruffin played four seasons at Western Kentucky (2017-20) with 78 tackles (62 solo, 16 assists), one tackle for loss, one interception for 28 yards, 25 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in 48 games for the Hilltoppers. He was named Second Team All-Conference USA in 2020.
